About Us

We who participate with The Transformation of Education Foundation are in service to the children of the world who hold our future in their sites.

May we find the tools to teach you to be more generous, thoughtful, peaceful, and successful than each generation that has come before.

Tawn Holstra

Executive Director
tawn@transformationofeducation.org

One of the founding members of Transformation of Education and SchoolHouse Earth, Tawn has been in educational design since 1976. Designing and implementing programs for a broad spectrum of populations and industries; from 0-5 year olds; the homeless; Navy Seals; to salesman; and couples; she specializes in how people learn and has developed curriculums that are currently used in 6 countries.

Transformation of Education is her life’s passion. Having grown up in a low income home she knows first hand the lasting negative impact of poorly funded public schools and the general ineffectiveness of memorization and standardized testing to prepare young people for leadership and adulthood. Learning is a natural ability, and learning to learn is imperative to creative thinking and empowering leadership.

While a student of Dr. Fernando Flores, she developed a deep respect for language and the power of committed action. She is passionately committed that learning is an easy and natural state for all of people and, when well designed, can cause amazing results, satisfaction, and joy for students and teachers alike.

While she maintains many corporate and governmental clients, The Transformation of Education and SchoolHouse Earth is the work that she sees will make a lasting difference in the world. Cultural change will only occur when we fully respect and honor our most vulnerable assets.

Tawn holds a degree in Education with a specialization in Cognitive Sciences and a three year Master’s Level Certificate in Ontological Design.

Tawn has two books out, Designing Your Child’s Education and Savoring Seattle, she is a regular segment host on Conscious Talk Radio as the Intuitive Parent www.conscioustalk.net , and does regular motivational speaking engagements.

James Ogden

Robotics Education, Event Coordinator
james@transformationofeducation.org

James has always had a love for teaching and a passion for technology. This started early-on, inspiring him to create his first business in the 5th grade to save the money to buy his first computer.

While in school, James pursued the field of technology both in and out of the classroom. He held part-time jobs in computer sales, software programming, and embedded controllers. In college, James also established himself as a proficient event planner, regularly throwing events from Casino Parties to Murder Mystery events for his friends. In 2000, he graduated U.C. Davis with a double-degree in Computer Science Engineering and Electrical Engineering, with a focus on the area of Robotics.

In the summer of 2000, James began working at Xilinx in San Jose as a digital design engineer, and is currently still employed there.

In the spring of 2003, James created a robotics class for Oster Elementary School in San Jose. He recruited sponsors and volunteers, and continued to grow these robotics classes over the next few years.

In the winter of 2004, James threw his biggest party ever, a spectacular Casino Party complete with live band, casino games, food, and nearly 100 guests.

In 2006, while seeking ways to expand the reach of his robotics classes, James came upon Transformation of Education. The mission of Transformation of Education and the SchoolHouse Earth project was a perfect fit, giving James the opportunity to express himself as an educator, robotics expert, and event planner... all under one roof.
